OMS LubriTek: Ten Years of Transforming Industrial Lubrication

When Jamie Shaw, Paul Howley and Stuart Bogg launched OMS LubriTek back in 2016, the operation was modest — self-described as “three blokes and a van” with a clear mission to change how manufacturers think about hydraulic oil. A decade on, the company has established itself as one of the UK’s leading industrial lubrication specialists, serving over 130 active customers across the plastics supply chain and beyond.

From Humble Beginnings to a Million-Pound Turnover

OMS LubriTek’s growth trajectory tells its own story. A first-year turnover of £72,000 tripled to £215,000 by year two, and the company has now surpassed the £1 million mark for the 2024–2025 financial year. That growth has brought expanded premises, a broader product range, and a fourth team member — Jordan, who joined in 2024 as an Oil Management Technician.

Director and co-founder Jamie Shaw brought more than 25 years of lubricants industry experience to the venture. His career began in metalworking fluids before a move into the automotive sector, and it was a chance meeting with Paul and Stuart at a former employer that planted the seed for OMS LubriTek — a business built around filling a clear gap in the plastics industry for high-quality, properly managed hydraulic oil supply and servicing.

Oil as an Asset, Not a Consumable

At the core of OMS LubriTek’s philosophy is a simple but powerful idea: hydraulic oil should be treated as an asset, not something to be used and discarded. As Jamie puts it, you wouldn’t run a performance car on second-hand fuel — so why take that approach with a £100,000 moulding machine?

That mindset drives the company’s full fluid management offering. OMS supplies its own premium oil ranges, including GPII UltraLife and GPIV UltraLife PAO-D, alongside services covering system flushing, filtration, additive treatments such as VRT UltraClean, and oil analysis with clear, traffic-light-style reporting.

With a typical injection moulding machine holding around 300 litres of oil, regular monitoring is essential. OMS helps customers extend oil life significantly — in some cases, oil originally installed as far back as 2017 is still performing well thanks to proper sampling and maintenance. Machines running round the clock generally need quarterly analysis, while those on single shifts should be checked at least twice a year.

Trusted by OEMs and End Users Alike

OMS LubriTek works across the full spectrum, from machinery manufacturers to end users. For OEMs, that means clean first-fills, oil supplied to specification, and flushing services. For moulders, the focus is on reducing wear, preventing breakdowns, and minimising unplanned downtime. Their oils meet or exceed leading OEM specifications.

Celebrating a Decade

To mark ten years in business, OMS is running a year-long celebration from July 2025 through to Interplas 2026, where the company will take a prominent stand to showcase its services, products, and sustainability initiatives. There’s also a limited-edition yellow barrel design and a prize draw — for every four barrels or IBC ordered (or any remedial work carried out), customers receive a numbered disc as an entry into a year-end draw with winners announced after Interplas.
As Jamie sums it up: the goal from day one has been to improve machine life, prevent failures, and support customers with knowledge and practical tools. Ten years in, OMS LubriTek is very much just getting started.
